(March 21st to April 19th)
Being a leader comes naturally to you – you’re not afraid to take charge, your enthusiasm is contagious, and you have always been adventurous in the workplace. The problem is that you’re not great at working for other people. You need to explore the possibility of working for yourself. Perhaps starting your own business, becoming a private consultant, or even figuring out a part-time side hustle just to give you a stronger sense of control.
(April 20th to May 21st)
You’re an excellent employee thanks to your flexibility, diligence, and dedication. The problem is that because you love security, you often take jobs solely based on salary and other benefits, even if you feel no connection or passion towards the work whatsoever. You need to find something that places you in an environment that makes you feel safe and appreciated while also challenging you to expand your creative side.
(May 22nd to June 21st)
You have to stop taking on the types of jobs where you get too comfortable too fast. Understandably, it’s important to you that you don’t work in an environment that makes you feel tense and anxious. But that doesn’t mean that the job can’t be fast-paced, consistently changing, and requiring that you have to wear many hats at once. It is possible to find something that gives your brain both peace and stimulation; you just have to look hard enough.
(June 22nd to July 22nd)
You need to work directly with people. You’re a natural caretaker and you get a lot of energy from forming emotional connections with others. So while this can translate directly into jobs related to social work, nannying, teaching, etc, it doesn’t have to be that narrowed down. Anything where you can have a direct impact on others is right up your alley, and that’s much more broad than you think – from HR to massage therapy to law to customer service to hospitality to anything related to health and wellness (dietitians, physical therapists, etc), your options are endless, as long as other people are involved.
(July 23rd to August 22nd)
You’re an extremely creative and passionate kind of worker. You’re generous, you love to inspire others, and you love to constantly expand your skill set. However, sometimes your intense enthusiasm can make others see you as bossy and patronizing. You need to find an environment that gives you room to grow while also teaching you how to share your passion and creativity without forcing it onto others.
(August 23rd to September 22nd)
Your ability to be meticulous, consistent, and diligent makes you quite the coveted employee. But your obsession with perfection often leads to you questioning yourself, worrying about trivial mistakes, and constantly criticizing yourself. These tendencies tend to be exacerbated when you work for a company that doesn’t emphasize feedback, direct communication, and performance reviews. You need to put yourself in a situation where you feel seen, heard, and encouraged – both about what you’re doing well and what you could improve upon.
(September 23rd to October 22nd)
Your indecisiveness is killing you. You’re an extremely charming person and you’re great in interviews, so you have no problem finding a job. The problem is that because employment comes so easy to you, you have a hard time fully committing and settling down, since you feel like your interests are constantly bouncing all over the place and that you could switch jobs at any moment without much difficulty. You need the type of career that challenges several different parts of your brain and requires several different skill sets at once – hospitality, event planning, customer service, advertising, PR, etc.
(October 23rd to November 22nd)
Feeling too safe is your problem. You don’t like to be coddled, underestimated, or to feel disposable in your line of work. You need something that requires a very specific skill set, that demands emotional control, and that forces you to think outside of the box. The minute things get easy or predictable, you’ll find yourself once again questioning what you’re supposed to be doing with your life.
(November 23rd to December 21st)
Sitting in a cubicle all day and staring at the same spreadsheet over and over again is your death sentence. You need to work on a team. The possibilities are endless, as long as you have the kind of job where you create things with others, have massive group brainstorms, where morale is emphasized, and where your particular opinion is high valued and used.
(December 22nd to January 20th)
You’re practical and ambitious, so any company with protocols that are disorganized, pointless, or stupid is just going to frustrate you. You need a specific purpose, a consistent set of goals that you’re asked to meet, and a series of rewards for each new milestone that you reach.
(January 21st to February 18th)
You need to feel like you’re making a difference in your line of work. If you don’t, you will burn out fast. Your methods can be somewhat unique and unusual, your best working hours are a little bizarre and sporadic, and you do your best work on your own schedule. You need to find a career that gives you flexible guidelines but allows you to branch out on your own and figure out the best way to solve the problem or the challenge in front of you – but on your own time and in your own way.
(February 19th to March 20th)
You have a fantastic imagination but you can be a bit idealistic. You need to work in the type of environment that appreciates unique ideas and ways of approaching a problem, but also knows how to rein you in. You can’t have your passion stifled, but you also need a job that gives you a framework within which you can sort through your all-over-the-place ideas. /By Kim Quindlen
