The past few years have been bonkers. Throughout 2016 and 2017, massive eclipses, retrogrades, and planetary shifts scorched the cosmos, causing political, social, and cultural upheaval here on Earth.

Alas, 2018 is going to be yet another intense orbit, featuring extremely rare astral occurrences, a brutal retrograde season (all planets will reverse in 2018), and fiveheavy-duty eclipses. But don’t fret, cosmic warriors, there is a silver lining! As the planets shift into Earth sign constellations, 2018 will offer a grounded, pragmatic energy. By the end of 2018, the path to our goals will be clearly illuminated.

2018 will be a year in two acts. January 1 kicks off with a full moon in Cancer, activating the astral axis associated with home and work. On a macro level, the lunar motion on New Year’s Day will create a dynamic opposition between the people — particularly women, as represented by the moon in Cancer — and the traditional establishment, as represented by the sun in Capricorn. This tension will continue to swell throughout the year, finally breaking on July 12 during a solar eclipse in Cancer. This solar eclipse will trigger a beginning, activating the next series of eclipses that will occur over the following two years.

While July’s solar eclipse in Cancer begins a new story, we are still in the midst of another narrative. The four other eclipses in 2018 — which occur on January 31, February 15, July 27, and August 11 — activate the Leo and Aquarius axis, continuing a journey that began in August 2016 and climaxed during the “Great American Eclipse” on August 21, 2017. Last summer, we discovered what we needed to release from our lives. These next four eclipses will help us to actualize this release. When the final eclipse of this series occurs on January 21, 2019, we will have officially completed the chapter.

For readers who still use a paper calendar, grab a giant marker and circle January 15, April 14, and September 12. On these dates, generous Jupiter connects with transformative Pluto, forming an extremely magical (and very rare) alignment. Eclipses often bring abrupt and shocking transformation, but the Jupiter and Pluto bond — in astrospeak, this bond is called a sextile — encourages positive growth. This is an important year for self-actualization, cosmic warrior, so allow these dates to serve as your personal checkpoints to ensure that you’re truly living your best life!

On May 15, Uranus moves into Taurus, beginning its eight-year tour across the Earth sign constellation. Since March 2011, Uranus — the planet associated with uprisings, revolutions, and shocking events — has been cruising through Aries, the fiery constellation associated with impulsive actions. When Uranus glides into Taurus, the rebellious planet becomes increasingly focused on tangible transformation. Taurus governs money and the economy (the bull is the symbol of Wall Street), so it’s likely our market structures will experience radical change over the next eight years.

For the majority of 2018, Jupiter’s journey through brooding Scorpio shines a light on societal secrets and illicit misconduct. On November 8, however, Jupiter says au revoir to Scorpio and prances into the Sagittarius constellation. Jupiter is Sagittarius’ native ruler, so this transit serves as a cosmic homecoming, one filled with optimism, enthusiasm, and renewed energy. From November 8 through December 2, 2019, philosophy, travel, and discovery will be front and center. Fortune will be kind to our efforts to philosophize, ideate, and innovate.

By the end of the year, three planets will be occupying their native signs: Jupiter in Sagittarius, Saturn in Capricorn, and Neptune in Pisces. When in their corresponding constellations, these planets will function at their highest vibrations. A much-needed sense of stability and groundedness will mark the end of 2018. We’ll leave the year with a far deeper understanding of how to move toward a better world.

Communication is super important to Virgos, who are constantly processing and perfecting. Throughout 2018, Jupiter — the planet of expansion — will cruise through Scorpio in your sociable third house.
